About the Tutor

Autumn Photo - Bio

Autumn Swindoll (formerly Hinrichs) is an enthusiast for transformative education and the life of the mind. Her own journey of Classical Education began in high school, when she participated in the Great Books Tutorial through her uncle’s program, Escondido Tutorial Service. The books and discussions she encountered in GBT opened her mind to the world of ideas, and challenged her to engage thoughtfully in her daily life and faith.

Eager to continue thinking deeply and integrating her Christianity with academics, Autumn pursued her undergraduate studies at Biola University through the Torrey Honors Institute. While at Torrey, she had the privilege of spending nine hours a week discussing the Great Books with wise mentors and astute peers. She also enjoyed a semester at the University of Oxford, where she studied Shakespeare, Historiography, and Philosophy. During and after her undergraduate studies, Autumn completed coursework in teaching and curriculum design, complimenting her classical training with insights from contemporary pedagogy. In 2009, she graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Humanities.

Since 2009, Autumn’s professional experience includes Honors Curriculum Development for Christian schools, student mentoring for Wheatstone Ministries, freelance editing, working as a legal secretary & assistant for an Orange County law firm, and five years of teaching and tutoring homeschool students around the nation and world.

A native of Southern California, Autumn has recently transplanted to Dallas, Texas, where she divides her time between tutoring, editing, and raising the cutest toddler and newborn there ever were. When she’s not working, she enjoys leading Bible studies, book clubs, and film discussions. She also enjoys writing, embarking on culinary adventures, and thinking about issues of gender, vocation, and spiritual formation. She is married to Ryan, a creative mind who works as director of operations for a non-profit organization.  He is her best friend, co-adventurer, business consultant, and technology wizard.
